Make Your Own Halloween Makeup:

Have you ever found yourself at the last minute on Halloween with a child who suddenly wants some ghoulish make up or something you don't have on hand?  Before running to the store, I found a great source for you to make your own at: livingonadime.com

Here are a few of the recipes that they share for you to make your own:
FACE PAINT:
1 tsp cornstarch
1/2 tsp water
1/2 tsp cold cream (noxema type)
food coloring
Mix all ingredients together in an old muffin tin and you are ready  to paint. This recipe makes enough for one color.

FAKE WOUND:
1 Tblspn Vaseline
pinch of cocoa powder
2-3 drops red food coloring
1 2-ply Kleenex type tissue
Place Vaseline in a bowl. Add food coloring. Stir with a toothpick. Add a pinch of cocoa powder to make a darker blood color.Separate tissue. Using one layer, cut a 2"x3" piece and place at desired wound site.  Cover with regular Vaseline (not the red blood stuff yet), and mold into the desired "wound" shape. The center should be lower than the sides (like a volcano). Fill center of wound with the red "blood" Vaseline mixture. Sprinkle a little extra cocoa powder if desired around wound to make it a bit darker.

FAKE BLOOD:
Mix: 2/3 cup corn syrup, 1 tsp. red food coloring, 2-3 drops blue food coloring (to darken the blood) and a small squirt of liquid dish soap (to help make the blood run better)

ABRASIONS:
Dab brown, red, and black eye shadow on area.  Dapple the fake blood over area with cotton balls. Use a comb to gently scratch area one direction.  Dapple cocoa powder or dirt over the wound with cotton balls.

BLACK EYE:
Apply red & blue eye shadow to depressions around eyes.

BRUISES:
Rub red & blue eye shadow over bony area to simulate recent bruises.  Use blue & yellow shadow to create older bruises.
