Make Your Own Baked Stand Alone Taco Shells
This tip is so easy you'll wonder why you never thought of it before! Choosing your tortillas will be the hardest part of all! I love making these with whole wheat tortillas most of the time.
Tonight I am throwing some enchiladas together, but saved a couple of shells to show you how to do this nifty trick. (Which explains the slightly larger tortillas in the pictures, than the traditional taco size.)
This tip comes compliments of eating well.com.
Here's what to do:
Working with 6 tortillas at a time, wrap the tortillas in a slightly damp towel or paper towel and microwave on high about 30 seconds till steamed.
Spray both sides of each tortilla with non-stick cooking spray.
Jan's tip: I actually skipped this step and it turned out fine. No sticking to the oven racks and still golden brown and crispy.
Drape each tortilla over two bars of the oven rack as shown below.
(I gently pressed down to crease the bend in the tortillas just a little bit more).
Bake 375 degree's 7-10 minutes till crispy.
