Don't have a dehydrator? I'll give you oven directions too!
Ingredients:
Apples
Lemon Juice or Fruit Fresh
Optional: Cinnamon, Jello powder (strawberry, orange, lime)
Supplies:
Dehydrator or baking sheets lined with parchment paper
peeler/corer
Knife/slicer
Bowl
Directions:
Prepare a bowl with lemon juice or water mixed with fruit fresh. (according to package directions)
Peel and core Apples. (I left the peels on but feel free to peel them). I have a fancy peeler corer combo but was too lazy to pull it out.)
Slice apples as evenly as possible.
As you work, soak apple slices in bowl of lemon juice or fruit fresh:
Remove apples from soak and blot dry on a towel.
Sprinkle with cinnamon or for fruity apple chips use any flavor Jello Powder if desired and place on drying rack.
Jan's Tip: The Strawberry, Orange or Lime jello works best and just looks the prettiest!
Dry apples 8-12 hours depending on dryer. If your dryer has a thermostat set it at about 130 °.
at about 4-6 hours flip the apples over. (not necessary so if you miss this step all is not lost!)
You are looking for dry enough to snap when you bend it.
Store in cool dry place.
OVEN DIRECTIONS:
Bake at 170 ° for 6-8 hours. Till dry and crispy. Turn oven off and leave apples in oven till it is completely cool. Remove from trays and store in cool, dry place.
